Hi I'm Gaby - I'm the one behind Nonsense & Hogwash
I picked the name for a couple of reasons. First, because Hogwash sort of sneaks in part of my surname, which I’ve always thought was a bit funny. But more than that, I work in lots of different styles, and I imagined someone looking at my collection thinking, “What a load of nonsense and hogwash!” (Probably while wearing a bowler hat.)
I use a lot of colour because that’s what makes me happy — and I hope it brings that same feeling to other people too. While a lot of my work is playful and fun, I also create pieces that I think are genuinely interesting or beautiful. I tend to make whatever’s on my mind that day, and that’s part of the joy of it.
I love the idea of creating something that lives in someone’s home and gives them a little smile every time they see it. That’s the thread running through all my work — whether it’s cheeky, colourful, or quietly lovely, I hope it makes someone feel something good.
Art has always been a big part of my life, and sharing it makes it even better. That’s what inspired me to create this website — so I can put it out into the world and hopefully help someone find something they love.
